Some great anime suggestions

Monday, 8 August, 2011

We’ve been having a lively discussion on the forums in regards to anime worth watching over the past 5 years. For example, NegativeZero posted:

Bakemonogatari

Genres: Supernatural, Romance
Format: 1 TV season (12 episodes) + OAV eplogue (3 episodes)
ANN: link
Availability: Aniplex USA has the license, not released.

Adapted from a light novel by Nisio Isin. The title is a word play on ‘bakemono’, ghost, and ‘monogatari’, story. Koyomi Araragi was recently cured of being a vampire. Through a series of circumstances, he encounters Hitagi Senjougahara, and discovers she weighs next to nothing. He brings her to Meme Oshino, an odd guy who appears to be a travelling priest, who helped cure Koyomi of being a vampire. Senjougahara is possessed by a spirit which he must help exorcise. Subsequently he encounters other girls, who each have similar issues which Koyomi has to help resolve. Directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (pretty much half of this list…), production by SHAFT, character designs by Akio Watanabe (Popotan, Soultaker, Komugi-chan)

Welcome! – Are we still watching after all these years…

Hello all!

Wow, It’s been such a long time since I sat down and watched… anything really.
I have been inspired in truth, Ausanime’s revival has spured me to go to a friend’s house to collect some recent titles and to set up a media PC in my theatre to watch them.

I got caught up with working a full time job, chasing women, a bit of gaming, etc.

I went to Tokyo in 2008 and again in 2010 and was totally blown away by the origins of this fine art and the people that live there. In the winter I had the time of my life in the hills north of Tokyo where I was able to stay at a Ryokan, a traditional Japanese hotel, with a private onsen, hot spring, in my room. I opened the Shoji screen beside the bath to look out over a giant, rainforest valley with a waterfall and mist bellowing out across the landscape.

So anyway, how are we all doing in this respect, what’s changed and are you still watching anime?

Welcome back to Ausanime !
